RCHS Student Art Shows
The RCHS Art Department will be hosting two Student Art Shows during the month of March. The first one is at Earth Fire and Spirit Gallery in downtown Lexington. Opening Night is March 6th at 5pm. Artworks will remain on view the month of March. The second Art Show will be in the RCHS Commons Area. Artworks will be on view March 23-28 during school hours and during the musical production of Grease.

Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions
Our school, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, is conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working
Conditions. We will survey students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, as well as classroom instructors and staff, beginning in January 2026.

The Rockbridge County School Board is committed to policies and practices that create a secure, safe, and supportive environment where all students have the opportunity to learn and grow academically and emotionally.
Stakeholders were invited to become part of the collaborative effort to develop the comprehensive plan. A committee was formed to evaluate and prioritize the data from the planning survey that was gathered in the fall of 2022. Stakeholders — including parents, community members, students, teachers, and local business leaders and partners, as well as school and division level administrators — worked for months using the survey data to not only envision a future for RCPS, but also to develop a road map to take us there.
This is a policy of the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office (RBSO) to endorse and support through staffing the creation of positive interaction between law enforcement and the school community.
School attendance is critical for academic achievement and the preparation of students for the world of work. Each parent/guardian, having charge of a student within the compulsory attendance age, shall be responsible for the student's regular and punctual attendance at school as required by Virginia law.
The Rockbridge County School Board establishes expectations for student conduct, including the use of such devices, which promotes a respectful atmosphere during the school day free from disruption and threat to persons or property, and supportive of individual rights.

Literacy means that someone can read and write. Language development is the ability to understand and use spoken language. The goal of reading is to be able to understand (comprehend) what you read.
Rockbridge County Public School learners will be engaged in consistent and purposeful opportunities to read, write, speak, and actively listen across multiple disciplines. Instructional practices will be anchored in the use of high quality instructional materials rooted in scientifically based reading research and best practices for evidence based literacy instruction.
