International Affairs Club

Sponsors:  Ms Carter, Ms. Hays, Ms. Leadbetter, Ms. Myrick, Ms. Nava, Ms. Parker

Purpose: The International Affairs Club is open to grades 9-12 of students who are interested in the cultural, economic, and political affairs of other countries.

Club Activites:

We sponsor an International Dinner in the fall (food from other countries brought by those attending), we have speakers, we attend events in the community dealing with international people and affairs.

The culmination of the the fall and winter activies is a Model U.N. which is held in March on the campuses of W& L and VMI. The Model U.N. will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, 2012, with 7 high schools participating. We have "training sessions" to help students prepare to research, plan, and debate the resolutions they submit for the country they represent.

The International Affairs Club is a very low key fun learning experience guided by Ms. Myrick, Ms. Parker, Ms. Leadberrer, Ms. Nava, Ms Carter and Ms. Hays. Please see any of those teachers for more information.
